14 could-be bridal looks from the Oscars 2016

Written by Sarah Tippett

Say hello to some of the most beautiful, red-carpet, BIG-DAY-worthy dresses from the Oscars 2016...

So, the most prestigious night in the awards season calendar kicked off last night with a series of drop-dead gorgeous red-carpet dresses in tow. Some of which, could be TOTALLY BIG-DAY-worthy - might we add. That's right, here's our top 14 picks of some of the most bridal-esque looks off the red-carpet…

P.s. And, HURRAH for Leo! (just had to squeeze this in somewhere...)

Actress, Daisy Ridley arrived looking uber-sophisticated in this darling Chanel couture gown with custom Jimmy Choo sandals - perfect, we're thinking, for the demure bride-to-be! Rooney Mara also WOW-ed in Givenchy Couture...

A very chic-looking Lady Gaga also arrived in an all-white ensemble by Brandon Maxwell (we're practically giddy imagining the wedding dress Gaga might choose). Whilst Olivia Wilde once again nailed it with her effortless, plunging Valentino Couture gown…soooo grecian! #weloveit

One of our favourite looks of the evening was this INSANE Zuhair Murad gown worn by Priyanka Chopra! And, did we mention both her and Lady Gaga took to the red carpet wearing around $8 million dollars worth of jewels. You know, just a casual Sunday night out…

The SERIOUS dress game continued on into the night with those attending the Vanity Fair and Elton John Oscars parties. We loved the minimalist strapless gown worn by Sofia Vergara (left), while Elizabeth Banks took things to another level with her Ralph & Russo gown (with built-in cape! #eek! It's totally the DREAM).

Serena Williams posed in front of the paps in a fabulous lace Galia Lahav gown while Liberty Ross took to the red carpet flaunting not only a gorgeous newly-wed glow, but also her beautiful vintage-inspired ivory wedding gown! Where else could you re-wear your wedding dress?

Georgina Chapman hit the floral note beautifully with this mesmerising gown, while Kelly Rowland made a seriously glitzy entrance with this highly embellished number...

We know they're not strictly your traditional bridal dresses, but we totally think Margot Robbie's show-stopping golden dress by Tom Ford would make the perfect alternative for the gold-obsessed bride. Whilst Cate Blanchett made quite the entrances in this Armani Prive floral delight - ideal if you don't want to wear white!
