Booked your dream venue for your celebration - and want to make it feel a little spacier? Here's how!
#1 Mirrors - everywhere!
Mirrors are brilliant at magnifying spaces, and making areas look bigger. Get creative with how you use them: think mirrored surfaces as the bases for your tablecentres, ornate frames decorating the edges of the space, mirrored (or metallic) candlesticks, mirror backgrounds for your Orders of Service and table plan,
#2 Use smaller tables
Because smaller tables = more tables! Alternatively, get creative with your seating arrangements; talk to your venue about layouts that remove emphasise from sizing and instead distract the eye with interesting visuals.
#3 Keep the lighting intimate
Whilst strip-lighting and bare bulbs can reveal the warts-and-all truth about a space, dim lights and flickering candles will all add to the romance and atmosphere of your setting - whilst distracting from the size.
#4 Avoid over-cluttering
Instead of cramming your venue with decorations and props, be selective with what you use to adorn your venue - going for a more minimalist approach will give your venue a cleaner, clearer feel. Alternatively, think high with your arrangements: opt for suspended florals, hanging candles and off the ground decorations for a visually-deceptive appearance.

#5 Be savvy with your layout
On a similar subject: be careful with the way you spread out the furniture in your venue. From your reception tables to your photobooth area, from additional seating to the buffet area - being savvy with how you organise the room will be crucial to helping the room feel bigger.
#6 Have a focal area
Whether it's a stunning entrance, a beautiful bar, a too-good-to-miss dancefloor, generate the feeling that your reception has a lot to offer. Create stand-out 'zones', which your guests can alternate between throughout the reception. For example, have a 'snacks' zone, a 'seating' zone, a 'games' zone... You get the picture!
