Michelle and Joe tied the knot at Rivervale Barn in Hampshire on 3 August 2016.

We wanted to get married in a barn venue and there were lots of options but the beautiful photos and detailed information on the website captured our imaginations After viewing Rivervale Barn - which was the first venue we visited - we both fell in love with its beauty and magical atmosphere.

It was everything we had hoped and the elaborate honeymoon cottage, bride’s pamper room were added perks. The ceremony room was captivating with high beams and the breathtaking view from the glassed doors and we knew that it was the perfect place to share our wedding with all our guests.

We had 12 tables for the wedding breakfast, with an arched top table which seemed less formal. On every table there was an assortment of decorations: a lantern with a candle, rose petals, three small vases with flowers, a photo of us and quiz scratch cards.

My wedding dress was strapless with a beautiful sequinned, fitted bodice. The bottom part was laced with a long trail and I had a veil to my waist with lace trimming.

My shoes were LK Bennet and were ivory with sequins on the toe part. The groom and ushers and best man wore a dark blue suit and brown shoes and the groom had personalised shirt cuffs and socks bought as a present from the bride.

I had five bridesmaids, who all wore long dresses in shades of peach and with pretty lace backs.

We also had three flower girls, who wore ivory frocks and scattered rose petals down the aisle. Talking of the flower girls: the wedding rings got lost amongst the flower girls baskets but were luckily found just before the ceremony!

After the ceremony, we enjoyed delicious canapes and glasses of Pimms and Prosecco. The wedding breakfast food was impeccable with guests saying it was the best food they had ever tasted! Guests enjoyed a Scotch egg with bacon to start, beef for main and a chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice-cream for pudding. In the evening, guests never went hungry with a sensational BBQ and a sweet trolley for the kids.

Our colour scheme was peach and gold and we had lanterns and small flowers down the aisle with two large bouquets at the front. We had a photo back-drop with vintage props with a polaroid camera to capture funny photos.

Our favours were gold mint pots with our names and venue name printed on the tin. We had a large menu on a wooden board to save buying individual menus and a large 3D table plan with a London theme as that’s where Joe proposed.

Our wedding cake was made by my bridesmaid: it was four tiers with peach and gold icing and a Mr and Mrs Sebo gold sign at the top.

Music was a big part of the day. The singer who sang as I walked down the aisle shared the same last name as me - so when guests saw it printed on our order of service, they thought I had a secret (and musically talented!) brother. Our first dance song was A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and for the reception, we wanted a live band who would get our guests dancing all night.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day and everything went to plan. I wish I had walked down the aisle at a slower pace but my dad sped down the aisle as if we were in a race! Looking back, we wish we had practised our first dance song a bit more but hey - we’re no Johnny or Baby from Dirty Dancing!

Steal their style!
