Research suggests the average 2017 wedding will cost £11,411

London couples will spend the most on their celebration, according to the numbers - with venue hire topping the expense list

 

A new study has found the typical British wedding will cost £11,411 - a fraction of the £20k couples spent on their nuptials a decade ago.

The research, conducted by delivery and returns service CollectPlus, found that couples in London will spend the most on their nuptials, with an average big-day spend of £13,825.

Couples in Brighton are the most budget-conscious, with newlyweds dropping £5,933 on their special celebrations.

The study also uncovered which elements of their weddings couples are willing to spend the most on, with the reception venue in top place, typically costing £1,872. The ceremony venue followed with a price tag of £1,757, whilst the bride's dress - costing on average £1,283 - came in third place.
