The bride's guide to in-flight beauty

The bride's guide to in-flight beauty

Written by Katie Byrne

Jetting off on your honeymoon soon? Keep in tip-top shape while you're up in the air with our guide to in-flight beauty...

#1 Don't try to tame me!

Avoid over-styling your hair before you jet off. The flight will dry out your locks and your hair will probably be more prone to damage than normal. Instead, use a leave-in conditioner before you leave the house; this will not only help keep your hair looking fabulous but will also help to tackle dryness incurred mid-flight.

#2 Fruit and veg = the perfect pre-flight snack

Not only are they full of water - hello, hydration! - but they're also great at satisfying your appetite without leaving you bloated.

#3 BYOS (that's bring your own snacks, FYI)

If the thought of plane food turns your stomach, bring your own snacks. We're not talking a three-course meal stowed in your hand luggage, of course; rather, think healthy protein-packed snacks instead.

#4 And stretch...

If you're on a long-haul flight, make sure you take the time to go for a quick leg-stretch. Keeping the blood circulating is a great way to dodge puffiness.

#5 Avoid wearing too much make-up

The wrong on-flight make-up can leave your skin feeling dried out and tight. Instead of your usual beauty routine, lavish your skin with a moisture-rich foundation that will leave your skin comfortably hydrated throughout your flight. Don't forget your lips; they'll probably dry out whilst you're in the air so keep them touched up with a tinted balm.

#6 Don't forget to keep hydrated!

Keep a bottle of water to hand during your flight - thirst isn't an option, people. Once on-board, glug some herbal tea, which is not only great for its tummy-flattening properties but will also help keep redness at bay.

#7 Blame it on the weatherman

Look up the weather forecast for your destination and dress accordingly. Also, on-board isn't the time to wear your tightest skinnies and highest heels. Think comfortable and practical. Let the accessories do the talking: think over-sized sunnies, a boho-style floppy hat and a fabulous necklace.

#8 Keep it clean...

Tackle germs by bringing a small bottle of hand sanitiser with you - you'll thank us later!
