Abbey and Andrew said 'I do' at Woodhall Manor, and celebrated with a family-centred reception
Abbey, 25, a finance officer, and Andrew, 31, a purchase ledger clark married at Woodhall Manor in Suffolk.
We wanted to hold a family-orientated celebration, and be surrounded by those we love. The venue had everything: a stunning manor, beautiful gardens, the dovecot to marry in front of - and even a secret room where I could get ready!
We both love the colour green, so this set the palette for our day - we also added touches of pink and cream, to keep things feeling fresh and pastel-themed.
My dress was from Mori Lee and fitted our theme perfectly! I'm not a theme of strapless dresses, so I loved the cap sleeves. My bouquet comprised hydrangea, avalanche roses, viburnum, carnations and freesias - all seasonal flowers, which I love for their different textures and colours.
Andrew wore a grey suit from Next with a pastel green tie and pocket square. My bridesmaids each wore a different dress: one wore green, one wore pink and the other wore cream!
Our friend made some beautiful 'Mr & Mrs' bunting, which we hung over the dovecot for the ceremony. Our tablecentres were three different-sized milk bottles, with the same flowers as my bouquet, plus freshly-picked daisies and bouvardia.
We love Krispy Kreme donuts so instead of a traditional wedding cake, we bought 120 doughnuts - you can never have too many! - and placed them on a Cath Kidston cakestand.
My dad passed away in 2013 but I still wanted him to be a part of the day. I always used to make him ginger biscuits, so we made over 100 ginger biscuits on Saturday (we got married on the Monday) and placed them in little cellophane bags, attaching a luggage label to them so they formed the placecards. I stamped each person's name on which was really effective - although extremely time consuming!
My advice for brides-to-be...
Trust in your venue and suppliers to do everything you have discussed and enjoy!
You're marrying your best friend, the love of your life, the one person you couldn't imagine your life without - you are only doing it once (hopefully) so it's okay to go a little crazy in the process. Looking back we honestly wouldn't change a thing... We just wish we could do it all over again.
My favourite moment...
We both loved seeing each other for the first time, as I walked down the aisle. It felt like it was just the two of us there and as we locked eyes we knew it was just the beginning of the rest of our lives together.
Steal their style!
