It’s little wonder the sexy sounds of salsa originated in Cuba; honeymooners here can’t help being seduced by the country’s love of music and dance. As a former Spanish colony in the Caribbean, the island’s mixed heritage ensures that behind the faded exterior, Cuba is a culturally rich land.
Ideally situated in central Havana, the refined Hotel Nacional de Cuba has hosted the likes of Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra and Alexander Fleming over the years. Head to the bar and sip on a heady combination of white rum, lime and sugar, first mixed in Havana and now known as the daiquiri.
