F is for... Florida
A two-hour drive from the vibrant state capital of Miami is a constellation of islands located at the southern tip of the mainland. The Florida Keys are perfectly situated for hopping easily from one to another, and are popular with kayakers who paddle from dense overhanging mangrove tunnels to sparse sandy islets, while it’s also possible to spy dolphins and turtles.
The Keys are home to the nation’s first underwater park – the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, and there is pulsating nightlife on Duval Street, while nearby the swamps in the Everglades are home to crocodiles, panthers and manatees. The Moorings Village & Spa is an 18-acre resort with 18 cottages located on what was once a coconut plantation.
