Vicky and Marko celebrated amongst the lush beauty of an English vineyard
Vicky 31, a freelance writer, and Marko, 32, a shipping analyst, married at All Saints Church followed by a reception at New Hall Vineyards in Purleigh, Essex.
We wanted to create a joyous day for our friends and family, and with children making up a fifth of the guest list, a lot of time went into keeping them entertained! My parents live in Purleigh and we’d often visit New Hall Vineyards, where the owners host wine sales and tours.
All Saints Church is a five-minute walk away, the setting is spectacular in summer and the barn is full of character, with white clapboarding on the outside and rustic beams and fairylights inside.
It was big enough to section-off areas for the breakfast, dancefloor and photobooth, with space for a children’s craft corner, too.
I’ve always loved Kate Halfpenny’s dresses, and the moment I tried on the ‘Bella’ skirt and lace top, I fell in love.
Teamed with a silk sash and an oversized flower corsage clipped onto the back, it felt like the perfect mix of my own style and a timeless design.
To bring colour to the barn we made paper tassels and pom-poms to string along the beams, and tied streamers to the backs of the chairs in our colours of mint green, yellow, peach and grey. Our arrangements included gypsophila, dahlias, astrantia, craspedia, roses, hypericum, waxflower, stocks, green bell, nigella, scabious, freesias, astilbe and veronica, in a variety of jars, bottles and vintage cigar boxes.
Our favours were peach and mint-green drinks coolers with cans of San Pellegrino to keep our guests refreshed.
I sewed hessian envelopes for the cutlery and place settings before using the off-cuts for our table names by stencilling the names of our favourite beaches in chalk pen.
My favourite moment...
Seeing Marko at the altar and the ceremony itself was my favourite memory. So much work goes into the reception but the moment we said our vows felt very serene and perfect.
My tip for brides-to-be...
You can put everything you have into creating a relaxed vibe for your guests, but make sure you are relaxed on the day. Ensure the run-up is restful so you can really enjoy the moment.
Steal their style!
