A barn-set wedding at Curradine Barns, complete with rustic decor and pretty mint details

A barn-set wedding at Curradine Barns, complete with rustic decor and pretty mint details

Written by Katie Byrne

Jenny and Jonathan's Worcestershire wedding day was filled with playful details and romantic flourishes...

Jenny, 31, a teacher, and Jonathan, 27, a computer programmer, married at Curradine Barns, Worcestershire.

The atmosphere...

We both love the countryside. Other hotel-type venues didn't feel very 'us', and we fell in love with the modern-meets-rustic look and feel of Curradine Barns. There is a lot of glass, meaning it's very light inside, and it was perfectly styled. It was beautiful!

The look...

I wore a vintage Alfred Angelo A-line wedding dress. It was gold with an ivory overlay and we added wide straps that went into a 'V' at the back as I didn't want a strapless gown. It was everything I wanted and more!

I don't know much about flowers so I let my florist choose what she thought was appropriate. I wanted a 'just picked' vibe and she got it just right - there were roses, daisies, heather and more!

My bridesmaids wore sage green Jenny Packham dresses, which I found online for £34 each.

The details...

Our venue didn't need too much decoration - although I did spend hours in the DT department at my school, making invitations, table names, favours, menus and more on the laser cutter.

We had a vintage world map for everyone to sign and I also borrowed a lot of decorations from a friend at work, who had married the year before.

My cousin made our wedding cake: three tiers, each with a different flavour and decorated with edible lace.

My favourite moment...

Looking around and realising all our friends and family were in the same place.

My advice for brides-to-be...

Be organised! Also, don't worry about buying all the things you read about. We stuck to our budget and although I was tempted by little extravagances, we decided in the end it wouldn't make a difference - and it didn't!

Get the look...
