A romantic garden wedding in California

A romantic garden wedding in California

Written by Katie Byrne

Julie and Jordan exchanged vows amidst a fairytale outdoor setting...

Julie, 23, a nurse, and Jordan, 24, a trainee chiropractic doctor, married at McCormick Home Ranch, Camarillo, California.

The atmosphere...

We wanted a classic and relaxed outdoor wedding. We allowed the beautiful flowers and greenery of our venue to inspire our décor, incorporating subtle pink hues with a hint of yellow and ivory.

We immediately fell in love with the garden of McCormick Home Ranch – it felt so whimsical, like something out of a fairytale. We played on the outdoor setting by adding even more floral touches to our ceremony seats and tables in the reception area.

The look...

My Maggie Sottero dress featured a delicate lace overlay and Swarovski crystal beading.

I loved its fitted shape and scalloped lace train; the style was timeless, and perfect for my shape. Jordan wore a grey, three-piece tux, and his ivory-coloured tie and pocketsquare matched my gown.

The bridesmaids wore floor-length dresses by David’s Bridal in a powdery-pink hue, completing their look with matching pearl necklaces and earrings.

The details...

We hung pink paper lanterns and votive candles from the trees in the garden, with bistro lighting overhead to set the scene.

The hardwood dancefloor, coffee bar and photobooth, complete with props supplied by us, proved popular amongst our guests.

I wanted our table décor to look simple and uncluttered, so we placed a variety of pink, ivory and soft yellow flowers in glass vases embellished with ivory ribbon, while our small cake was adorned with fresh, blush-coloured garden roses to complement our colour palette palette.

My favourite moment...

Being announced as husband and wife when we walked into the reception together was very special – it was an amazing feeling realising we were finally married!

My tip for brides-to-be...

Don’t sweat the small stuff. After all, no matter what happens you’ll still get to marry the love of your life.

Steal their style!
