Sorbet shades set the scene for Clare and Jaymie’s big day
Clare, a drama teacher, and Jaymie, a quantity surveyor, both 31, married at a Roman Catholic church in Rickmansworth, followed by a reception at Hunton Park, Hertfordshire.
We wanted our day to be big, memorable and fabulous! It was important to us that our guests had the time of their lives and we made the day as much about them as us.
Our reception was held in a marquee in the grounds of a period mansion house, with 22 acres of landscaped gardens.
Inspired by our shared sweet tooth and my love for candy-floss colours, the marquee was decorated with pastel-coloured details, including voile drapes and ribbons.
My fishtail dress was the ninth gown I tried on, but weirdly, nine is my lucky number! I teamed it with a cathedral-length veil and vintage earrings, a pair of lace Jimmy Choos, a Swarovski bracelet and tiara – I felt like a princess.
I held a posy of hydrangeas and roses, while my bridesmaids wore asymmetric dresses by Kelsey Rose in a powdery palette of yellow, blue, blush pink, mint and lavender.
We hired white chairs and adorned them with ribbon, while our tables were dressed in white linen with lilac napkins and low floral centrepieces which we had transported from the church.
The cake table featured a sweet spread, including macarons, flying saucers and cupcakes, and our cake, featuring a lace trim on each tier, was topped with sugar flowers.
Place names were hung from each chair, while our jam-jar favours contained a mix of old-fashioned sweets.
My favourite moment...
We loved seeing our guests’ reactions during our singing waiters’ performance – it was priceless!
My tip for brides-to-be...
Take a moment to absorb everything. When Jaymie and I looked around the marquee it was great to feel like we had nailed it!
Steal their style!
