Five tips for tackling cellulite

Five tips for tackling cellulite

Written by Katie Byrne

Make orange peel skin a thing of the past with these simple tips...

Ugh, cellulite. The bane of leg-life: the dimply, lumpy effect that backs-of-thighs across the world have long been plagued by, regardless of shape or size.

Happily, it is possible to get rid of cellulite, with a bit of time and effort.

#1 Drink more water

Basic but effective - drinking more water will up your body's hydration and help to flush out cellulite-inducing toxins. Aim for two litres a day - and if you can't stomach 'plain' water, add a slice of lemon or some mint for extra flavour. Also, cut down on the amount of caffeine you consume: caffeine can dehydrate skin, making herbal tea a perfect alternative to your normal cuppa.

#2 Invest in a skin brush and a quality body scrub

Turn your shower into a spa! Use a bristle brush in small circular motions to stimulate blood flow in your thighs and hips - this will help to gradually break down fatty deposits and will, eventually, start to shift that 'dimple' effect so associated with cellulite.

#3 Exercise!

As well as the obvious benefits - toning and weight loss - exercise will also help you to get your sweat on. Feeling sweaty after a workout isn't particularly glamorous but it will help your body to expel toxins.

#4 Slap on a serum

There are endless serums and creams on the market that promise to reduce cellulite. Ask friends for recommendations and have a browse online for reviews - although remember, what works for one woman won't necessarily work for another.

#5 Don't give up easily

There's no over-night cure for cellulite - it takes time to shift it. Perservere with the above and don't stress out if it doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast, as you won't see instant results. If you're concerned book an appointment with your GP or a dermatologist, who should be able to advise you further.
