A nature-filled Ibiza wedding, complete with tropical details and twists of home

A nature-filled Ibiza wedding, complete with tropical details and twists of home

Written by Katie Byrne

Claire and Daniel celebrated their nuptials on the sunny party island...

Claire, 37, head of spirit creation for Belvedere Vodka, and Daniel, 39, a sales and marketing director, married at their friends’ villa in Cala San Vicente, Ibiza.

The atmosphere...

We wanted an outdoor wedding, so we headed to Ibiza, where our friends own a villa with incredible views and gardens.

Situated in the north of the island, the family home was surrounded by hills and ceder trees, with the bright blue sky overhead. We were keen to incorporate as much greenery as possible, so used local succulents and ceder in our décor and kept the colour palette soft.

The look...

I wanted my dress to be classic, but also a style I would feel cool in. I bought my Le Spose di Giò gown from a London boutique, and when I took my mum to see it, she cried!

I held a hand-tied posy of ‘David Austin’, ‘Juliette’ and ‘Avalanche’ roses, astilbe, succulents, eucalyptus and senecio foliage in complementing blush tones.

Daniel looked dapper in his light blue Scotch & Soda suit, and the maids all wore pink tulle dresses with pretty gypsophila hair circlets.

The details...

Glass jars filled with peach flowers were hung from stands to line the ceremony aisle. We held our drinks reception at the villa, where guests enjoyed vodka and green tea punch, and were given a bespoke Ibizan liqueur to take home.

Later, the outdoor area was transformed with clusters of flowers displayed in jam-jars on the tables, menus printed on brown paper bags, which also contained homemade bread, and place names displayed on lollipop sticks in miniature tin buckets filled with gypsophila.

We also had an iced Battenberg cake adorned with succulents and garden roses.

My favourite moment...

At the end of the night, we changed into our swimwear and jumped into the pool!

My tip for brides-to-be...

Your tastes are likely to change over the course of a year, so try not to rush your decisions.

Steal their style!
