A gorgeous garden party wedding, with a blue colourscheme and pops of old-school style

A gorgeous garden party wedding, with a blue colourscheme and pops of old-school style

Written by Katie Byrne

Lauren and Kevin’s garden wedding was filled with vintage charm...

Lauren and Kevin, both 23, married at the Jardin Del Sol in Snohomish, Washington.

The atmosphere...

When we set foot in the Jardin Del Sol’s expansive grounds, we knew instantly it was the wedding venue for us. With its manicured hedgerows and trees, floral archways, statues, fountains and hanging lanterns, we immediately saw our vision of a relaxed, elegant garden party come to life.

We decided to incorporate a vintage theme using props, including old typewriters, after coming across some old family heirlooms. We chose an ivory palette with navy blue and blush pink to complement.

The look...

I had always envisioned a slim-fitting dress, but after trying on several, none of them felt quite right. When I finally came across my A-line gown by Mori Lee, it made me feel like a princess.

My bridesmaids looked beautiful in their midnight-blue dresses by Donna Morgan, which they teamed with statement necklaces and nude-coloured shoes, while Kevin wore a grey slim-fit suit with a teal bow tie and a white rose buttonhole.

The details...

We dressed our tables in white linen and topped them with navy blue napkins and low but overflowing tablecentres of dahlias, peonies and roses.

Birdcages, mercury glass candles and crystal-cut bowls filled with fresh fruit completed our vintagestyle décor, while our stationery featured pretty watercolour flora.

Our home-baked cake was adorned with fresh peonies, and we surrounded it with smaller chocolate cakes and our summertime favourite, mini strawberry shortcakes.

My favourite moment...

We got to be alone for a few minutes after the ceremony to let everything sink in; we were hugging, smiling, laughing and crying all at the same time. It was a very surreal and magical moment that neither of us will forget.

My tip for brides-to-be...

Don’t compare your wedding plans to other people’s. The unexpected surprises are what make the best memories, it’s what makes each wedding so unique!

Steal their style!
