A vibrant museum-held wedding, with a sunshine-bright colour scheme

A vibrant museum-held wedding, with a sunshine-bright colour scheme

A railway museum provided the backdrop to Jennifer and Seth’s eclectic big day

Jennifer, 27, an interior designer, and Seth, 28, a landscape architect, married at Georgia State Railroad Museum in Savannah, Georgia.

The atmosphere...

Although Seth and I have similar tastes, when it comes to aesthetics, our opinions tend to differ somewhat. Seth likes clean and contemporary looks, while I adore historic settings and vintage styling. As a result, we decided to combine the two.

With exposed red brickwork, wooden rafters and bare concrete flooring, our venue offered both character and a blank canvas for us to work with. To create a romantic evening atmosphere, café lights were strung from the ceiling, while our Bluegrass band filled the room with feel-good music.

The look...

I bought my lace Allure Bridals gown in Tennessee, where I’m from. I wanted my maids to wear something they felt comfortable in, and discovered a shop on Etsy which created made-to-measure chiffon dresses in a grey palette for us.

The girls accessorised with bespoke charm bracelets and bouquets of bright yellow blooms. Seth sported a grey Calvin Klein tux with a yellow tie and buttonhole comprising ranunculus, white asters, craspedia and senecio foliage.

The details...

We lined our outdoor aisle with watering cans filled with gypsophila, and filled small jars with flowers, and hung them above on stands. Our reception was held in the Blacksmith’s shop, where fabric was draped from the rafters, chandeliers were hung, and hessian and lace runners lined the tables.

Each table had an assortment of wild flowers displayed in a mix of vases, including wine and beer bottles, which were wrapped in wool. Our favours were homemade, and comprised yellow or grey envelopes stuffed with sunflower seeds and a poem.

My favourite moment...

I slipped into the reception room for a peek before the ceremony, and when I opened the doors, I burst into tears! I was overwhelmed with joy.

My tip for brides-to-be...

Allow family and friends to pitch in when planning – you can’t always do it all by yourself.

Steal their style!
