Amy and Taylor escaped to the Bahamas for a sand-between-their-toes ceremony
Amy, a model, and Taylor, who works for his family’s oil business, married on Harbour Island in the Bahamas, followed by a reception at The Ocean View Club.
It had been my dream to tie the knot in the Bahamas ever since I worked there on a photoshoot.
To complement the sand and sea of Harbour Island, we chose a colour palette of coral and turquoise with accents of gold, and incorporated the natural surroundings to create a stylish nautical theme.
As our wedding took place over a bank holiday, we decided to make a whole weekend of the celebrations. The day before our wedding, my maids and I went to a lunch, while the groomsmen went fishing; it was lovely to enjoy some downtime before all the partying!
We had our hearts set on a sophisticated yet relaxed wedding with a vintage twist, and wanted our outfits to reflect this style.
My Claire Pettibone dress featured a lace back and jewelled embellishment around the waist, and I teamed it with a floral hair circlet and a pair of Manolo Blahnik sandals.
My maids dazzled in their gold sequin-embellished dresses, while our flowergirl wore a pretty ruffled J. Crew dress.
Meanwhile, Taylor looked the part in an ivory suit by Perry Ellis, which he wore with a pair of brown leather flip-flops.
To give our beach wedding a vintage feel, our table-tops showcased pink peonies pouring out from weathered trumpets, surrounded by brass candlesticks, while driftwood, starfish, and conch shells were incorporated into the rest of our décor.
After sunset, we enjoyed a delicious meal of snapper with papaya salsa, and lobster. And later, an open bar served our signature drinks, including Taylor’s ‘Dark & Stormy’ – a mix of dark rum and ginger beer.
My favourite moment...
Saying our vows beneath a pergola adorned with foliage and ribbon while my father officiated was truly magical. I also loved dancing the night away with my husband barefoot in the sand.
My tip for brides-to-be...
Do hire a planner if you can; having someone to help bring your vision to life does relieve so much of the stress.
Steal their style!
