Four reasons why summer sex is the worst

Four reasons why summer sex is the worst

Written by Katie Byrne

Feeling hot, hot, hot? Switch on the fan and step away from the bedroom...

#1 The heat will make one of you really, really grumpy.

Probably both of you, actually. There's nothing quite like burning temperatures, a night spend tossing and turning your pillow (in search of the elusive 'cool side') and frizzed-up hair to make you feel in the mood - in the mood for a cold bath and an early night, that is.

#2 All those fun summer-y places are actually not that great for hooking up.

We're talking about the sea (too public), the swimming pool (too chlorine-y) and the beach (too sand-y). Everything is itchy and sticky and clammy and generally a bit un-sexy. Even the shower isn't that great: hot water does not a lubricant make.

#4 Sweat, sweat, all the sweat

And not the good 'ooh, working up a sweat' kind of sweat. (We've written the word 'sweat' far too many times now...). Rather, we mean the sweat worked up by being crammed into a train carriage for an hour, or running for the bus, or sitting in a badly air-conditioned office all day. YAY, SUMMER.
