Freya and Jack tied the knot in style with a touch of luxe and a surprise celebrity guest
Freya, 24, a full-time mum, and Jack, 24, a professional footballer, married at the Church of the Holy Ascension in Hyde, Hampshire, followed by a reception at Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa.
We wanted our wedding day to be more of a fun celebration than a formal white wedding. We were keen to make it laid-back and as much about our guests as it was us.
We were lucky to have beautiful weather on the day, so we took advantage of the outdoor terrace where our guests could spread out and mingle. Our venue offered a lot of space to make our own and for the décor we combined a modern look with classic elegance, adding a touch of luxe with lace and glitter.
I tried on plenty of princess-style dresses but the look didn’t suit me at all and I realised I wanted something classy and modern. I found my floor-length, long-sleeved, lace Alice Temperley gown online at Net-A-Porter and finished my look with a pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes.
Jack looked handsome in a blue Vivienne Westwood three-piece suit teamed with a pair of brown leather shoes and a rose buttonhole, while my bridesmaid wore a pretty dusky pink dress with a large bow around the waist.
We held our drinks reception outside on the terrace in the sunshine with a pianist performing as our guests tucked into canapés and sipped champagne, it was perfect.
We chose a palette of white and gold to create a really luxurious look, with white and gold lace around our cake and gold ribbon tied around our stationery – even our champagne had gold flecks!
We divided the reception area into two rooms, later drawing back a dummy wall to reveal a stage and dancefloor. We styled this area to look like a nightclub with white seats and strobe lighting, ready for a surprise performance by Alexandra Burke who really got the party underway!
Outside the church we had a gorgeous floral arch, and inside we kept the look clean and contemporary with lots of white flowers. We filled silver vases with tall white lilies and added white hydrangeas to the pew ends.
For our reception tables, we had elegant floral displays of hydrangeas and roses showcased in tall vases, complete with gold lace to complement the timeless and sophisticated look we wanted to create.
