Chrissy and Adam said ‘I do’ on the beach against a mountainous backdrop
Chrissy, 36, a photographer, and Adam, a real estate agent, 35, married at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Nevada.
We wanted to create an experience for our guests, something that was sophisticated yet earthy and rustic. We chose our venue not only for its beautiful beachfront location, but because it’s special to us.
Adam and I had hiked the 165-mile trail of mountain range which circles Lake Tahoe the summer before, and we snowboard there in the winter. For our décor and outfits, we chose a palette of sage, blue and peach to complement the natural surroundings.
I found my Reem Acra dress in a boutique in San Francisco, I loved how light the silk chiffon layers were. I wore my twin sister’s necklace, which she had also worn on her wedding day, a bracelet I bought during a trip to Bali, and a pair of mint-green Jimmy Choo sandals.
I was relaxed when it came to my bouquet and gave my florist control after showing her my Pinterest board. She created a posy of peonies, garden roses and succulents – it smelled amazing!
Adam looked very handsome head-to-toe in Paul Smith, while my bridesmaids wore their own choice of dresses in a palette of pink and peach.
We served lemonade and iced tea on the beach before the ceremony, and cocktails before dinner.
A friend played acoustic slide guitar during the ceremony and Adam’s DJ friend played throughout the reception. Guests dined on salmon, chicken or steak – all of which were locally sourced, and served with a variety of salads and wines.
Later, they tucked into chocolate cupcakes. For added entertainment, we set up a photobooth using my equipment, which went down well with our guests.
We also provided a shoe valet so they could store their shoes and pop on a pair of flip-flops to dance in!
My favourite moment...
The whole day was wonderful, but Adam and I seeing each other in our outfits for the first time just before the wedding will always stay in my mind.
My tip for brides-to-be...
Add as many personal elements as you can into the day – and ask the talented people in your life to get involved in the planning, they will be honoured!
Steal their style!
