Get in shape in time for your celebration with these ideas from the king of fitness, James Duigan...
James Duigan has spent the last decade changing the way we exercise and eat. His global success is down to his fuss-free approach (which, by the way, supermodels swear by), delicious meal suggestions (you never feel starved) and big results.
“Our bodies are designed to move, so move every day,” says Duigan (right), founder of Bodyism and Clean & Lean. “It doesn’t have to be strenuous, just try to get variety into your week such as a yoga class, a brisk walk or a Pilate’s class.”
James’ 5 golden rules...
#1 Load up on superfoods
Spinach is full of iron which boosts your energy levels and increases muscle endurance. Try sprinkling cinnamon on your coffee; it regulates blood-sugar and cholesterol levels and is anti-inflammatory. Broccoli truly deserves the name ‘superfood’ as it’s loaded with nutrients and health benefits.
#2 Eat FIVE healthy meals a day
Two of which should be smaller snacks. Healthy snacking ensures you don’t overeat when you have the main meals and will also help to speed up your metabolism.
#3 Start training as soon as you can
Many brides tend to panic a couple of months before the wedding. They hardly eat and over-train and when the big day arrives they just look tired and worn-out. If you want to look glowing, slim and healthy try to train 3-5 days a week and eat cleanly. Try Bodyism Beauty Food every morning (RRP £54.95 for 150g; bodyism.com).
4 Avoid sugar-packed treats
Muffins, croissants and sugary smoothies are a no-no. Excellent snacks are raw nuts, turkey slices, berries, sliced vegetables and Bodyism’s Protein Excellence (£49.95 for 500g).
5 Resistance is key for a flatter tummy
Cardio alone is extremely unlikely to get you a flat tummy. The fastest way to burn fat is with resistance circuits using AMG (all muscle groups) movements – this is the most effective way for shifting body fat.
