Hannah and Gavin created an effortless romantic look in an intimate barn celebration...
Hannah, 31, a florist and stylist, and Gavin, 32, a roofer and furniture maker, married at Shustoke Farm Barns in Lichfield.
We weren't set on a particular theme, instead we wanted an effortlessly undone look. I knew I wanted a slight boho feel to the day yet still very elegant, so we created an eclectic mix while also incorporating nature and keeping it seasonal with our floral décor.
I spotted the antique gold bridesmaids dresses early on so they set the overall tone of the day.
Our goal was to create an intimate and cosy atmosphere so we timed our wedding breakfast with sunset – it was lovely to eat in such a warm and romantic ambience with flickering candlelight.
I loved my Eden dress by Jenny Packham. Like many brides, I started out knowing what I didn't want but less sure about what I did want! Eden was actually the 10th dress I tried on and I instantly fell for it; I loved its elegant shape and subtle 1920s style with beautiful lace and bead embellishments.
I teamed my gown with a pair of ivory and gold pointed stilettos by Vince Camuto, and later changed into lower, leopard print heels from Boden for dancing.
I spotted my maids' gown in a magazine and asked the girls to try them on – buying the first ones they tried did seem hasty, but we all loved them!
They paired their dresses with navy suede stilettos from Whistles and earrings from ASOS, finishing their look with single 'Amnesia' roses in their hair.
Shustoke had such beautiful exposed brickwork and original features that we didn't want to distract from its character with too much decoration, so Gav designed and handmade a set of light up letters spelling 'Love' especially for the day – they looked amazing.
Being a florist, the flowers had to make up our main décor, so when I couldn't find a florist offering the natural style I wanted, I decided to design the arrangements myself.
It was difficult to edit my flower selection for my bouquet, but in the end I went with my favourites: hydrangeas, succulents, 'Quicksand' and 'Amnesia' roses, spray roses, astilbe, astrantia, fountain grass, brunia, scabiosa, pods and eucalyptus.
I created a statement arrangement in the drawer of a vintage, enamel, top kitchen table to display the cake. It was a lush design, and looked as if it was spilling out of the drawer. I then tied natural posies to the chairs which lined the aisle, and created a foliage garland to frame the entrance to the barn.
We collected mismatched apothecary bottles and vintage tins in various shapes and sizes to display our tablecentres in; the low tablecentres created the bohemian, effortless look I wanted. We then completed the look with twinkling tea lights – it was stunning.
Steal their style!
