The most Googled beauty questions of 2015

The most Googled beauty questions of 2015

We share the answers to your most searched-for beauty conundrums of the last 12 months...

What is the Kylie Jenner lip challenge?

Um, how about don't. The youngest of the Kardashian klan is famed for her bee-stung pout and has admitted to having fillers in the past in order to plump-up her lips. However, her millions of teen-aged fans across the globe, who didn't have access to cosmetic surgeons, decided to take their looks into their own hands with #KylieJennerLipChallenge.

The social media craze saw teens, desperate to copy Kylie's perfect pout, sucking on shot glasses in a bid to inflate their own. The results? Grotesque, with young women across the world sporting short-lived and horrifyingly inflated and painful lips.

What are lip fillers?

If you're desperate for bigger lips, put the shot glass down and consider lip fillers instead. The procedure - which should only be carried out by a proper medical expert (make sure you research the doctor you're considering for reviews and testimonials) - sees hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body, injected into the lips, increasing volume for a certain period of time.

How can I remove gel nail polish?

This tutorial from Dotted Around has you covered - whatever you do, don't pull or pick at your nails, as you run the risk of serious damage.

How should I use beard balm?

It varies from brand to brand, but typically your groom will need to rub a little of the balm between his fingers before massaging into his beard. Remove excess by running a comb through the beard - simple!

How can I do a French braid?

How can I pop a deep zit?

In a word: don't! Consult a dermatologist if you're really bothered, or alternatively, wait it out with the help of your favourite zit-busting products. Squeezing a spot can lead to scarring and infection - not ideal.

How do I get glowing skin?

This will vary from person to person. It could be something as simple as investing in a highlighter for your make-up bag, or making a few lifestyle changes. How can I put braids in a bun?

Easy peasy. Seperate your hair in to two sections: one small section from just above your ear, and one bigger section. Tie the bigger section out of the way; braid the smaller section and tie the end with an elastic. Untie the bigger section; backcomb for added volume and twist into a bun of your choice. Twist the ends of the braid around the bun and pin in place.

How can I make my hair not static-y?

The answer to this question varies from hair-type to hair-type. If you really struggle, invest in some good-quality products that will offer what you want. A serum or oil-based spray can help keep things under control, as can using an ionic dryer in place of your normal hair-dryer.
