Nadiya and Joe said 'I do' against a beachy backdrop, filled with floral flourishes
Nadiya Luthra, 30, a post-production coordinator, and Joe Carhart, 29, a visual effects coordinator, married at Prussia Cove in Cornwall.
I’m from London and Joe is from Cornwall, so to me there was no question about getting married there! We looked at several venues but in the end decided we had to have a sea view.
We kept our style for the day simple and tasteful, with a handmade feel and pretty floral touches. We wanted everything to be as natural as possible and to blend with our ocean backdrop.
Our cake was incredibly special to us. We both love a Victoria sponge and Joe’s grandmother Rita and his cousin Caitlyn baked it for us – it was delicious!
We wanted to capture both our heritages, so our day was a blend of Cornish and Indian themes – we had a sitar and tabla player to reflect my Indian heritage and Cornish tartan tied around jam jars to reflect Joe’s Cornish roots.
I walked down the aisle to a sitar piece called Jhinijohti – a traditional raga that’s usually played at Hindu weddings.
The generator failed and all the lights went out! Our lovely guests burst into old Beatles tunes. What should have been a disaster was a magical moment.
My tip for brides-to-be: Delegate. I made the mistake of leaving it to the last minute when it all got a little too much, which was already far too late. Trust your family and friends – after all, they want you to have a perfect day too!
Steal their style!
