Ariane Poole brings us her top six bridal beauty looks - perfect for the 2016 bride-to be!
Congratulations! You're getting married!
You've set the date, got the dress and your venue...now it's time to think about your make-up.
Your wedding day is your red carpet moment, all eyes will be on you. It's your time to shine. But what look to choose? I always suggest that brides (of any age) look like themselves but better (more polished, photo-ready etc.) on their big day. Saying that, if you want to try out a different look or two why not? Just make sure you do this at least six months before the big day. That way you will be truly comfortable and own it when it comes to walking down the aisle.
Remember, you are going to be looking back at your wedding photos for years to come. You don’t want to be saying “what on earth was I thinking” when you look at your make-up or hair. Just think back to a look that was on trend that you did when you were in your teens, most of us have one (or more) that we thought looked great but in hindsight looks awful.
Looking for some ideas? This season's bridal make-up trends are gorgeous - and there's really something for everyone. Let me guide you through my top looks:
#1 The retro look. This look has been around for a while but still looks great. It has that old Hollywood glamour feel. A flawless matte complexion, red lips, defined brows and a cat eye flick is what it's all about. Great for the bride who usually wears eye liner and/or red lips.
#2 The naked/natural look. This look is perfect for the bride who normally wears little or no make-up or for the bride who is having a beach wedding. This is NOT a no make-up look, rather a cleverly applied, neutral toned effect giving the appearance that you are totally natural. Try my Ultimate Face Tint instead of foundation, a soft neutral shade on the eyes, a hint of mascara, a soft rose flush on the cheeks and a tinted lip balm.
#3 The English rose. This classic look is still a favourite but this season it has a little twist. The face has more of a glow (not as matte) - a sheen if you will. The soft pinks are still on the lips and cheeks but the cheeks are topped with a shimmery highlight. The eyes while soft have a hint of sheen too, giving this classic a modern edge. Great for the bride who wants to take her classic daytime look to another level without it looking too much.
#4 The peachy look. This look comes directly from the catwalk yet works beautifully on brides too. Peachy hues are applied to eyes, cheeks and lips for a stunning modern take on monochromatic makeup. Beautiful for the bride who wants a little more than a natural look.
#5 The fashionista look. Think strongly defined eyes, cheeks and lips eg. the Kardashians. This look is perfect for the bride who really loves her make-up and wears make-up nearly every day.
#6 The soft smoky eye look. This is one of the looks I really love. It's a twist on the dark smokey eye, instead of black think softer more neutral shades such as taupes or browns with a hint of metallic. Cheeks are softly sculpted and highlighted, lips can be either stained or natural. This look is perfect for the bride that wears some make-up but wants to add a little more on the day. It's great for a late afternoon or evening wedding too!
I hope I've inspired you to try a new look or two!
Have a wonderful wedding!
