An opulent pastel-themed wedding at The Orangery, Turkey Mill

Anya and William tied the knot in a stunning ceremony, with endless floral details and sentimental touches


Anya Edwards, 27, a secretary, and William Fucilla, 29, a corporate executive, tied the knot in St Marks Church, Purley. 

Budget: £35,000-£45,000

Will took me on a beautiful holiday to Mauritius and surprised me on the beach one evening by popping the question. We had a giggle as the ring box was upside down! 

I love flowers so they were a big part of our day, as well as pearls and silver sequins, as accents that all tied in with our theme of soft pastel opulence.

Our tables were named after flowers relating to love, like Sweet Williams! My sister organised little silver lockets with photos of loved ones that had passed away to be embedded in my bouquet. It helped us remember those who couldn’t be with us.

Our table arrangements were large dome-shaped ones mounted on to glass triangular vases with different length pearls on strings hanging inside. I really wanted the flowers on the tables to have a big impact.

I fell in love with our venue, The Orangery in Maidstone, straight away. It’s just like a secret garden and the grounds are beautiful with a waterfall and lake.

Bruschetta, smoked salmon roulards with crème fraiche and chicken satay were among the canapes served, along with peach Bellinis, champagne, Peroni and fruit juice. We made sure we included pasta for our reception dinner too, as Will and his family are Italian. 

There was a harpist playing on arrival at The Orangery, which gave an enchanted feel. We had a disco in the evening to get the party started and a caricaturist to entertain guests as they walked through the grounds.

Our cake was a massive three-tiered chocolate cake with praline, coconut and champagne tiers. We had a chocolate fountain and a vintage style sweet table to entertain those with a sweet tooth too! 

One of my favourite moments was the fireworks we had at the end of the evening which were so magical and emotional. I also shed a tear at my dad’s lovely speech. 

My top tip for brides-to-be: The little touches are so special and what makes your wedding unique, so focus on them. It’s also nice to get your bouquet frozen or dried professionally.
