12 gloriously different ideas for your table centrepieces

12 gloriously different ideas for your table centrepieces

Written by Katie Byrne

Traditional floral displays are beautiful - but if you want to try something a little different, consider one of these options instead!

#1 Create a miniature garden

Strips of faux grass partnered with rustic jars of hand-picked blooms will add some alternative charm to your table tops.

#2 Or a miniature wood!

Mis-matched tree trunk slices are perfect for adding a rustic twist to any reception.

#3 Serve up arrangements of your favourite sweets

Whether you create artistic floral-inspired arrangements (bunches of chocolate roses will always be a winner) or simply an array of sweet treats to tempt your guests, remember - calories absolutely don't count on a wedding day.

#4 Use candles to add some extra romance

They'll add some flickering atmosphere to your nuptials, and add some extra gorgeous atmosphere to your reception. FYI, Yankee Candle have recently launched their Wedding collection - and it's divine! Find out more here.

#5 Stacks of old books are the perfect choice for a vintage celebration.

Top them with crockery arrangements for extra charm!

#6 Pick statement display ideas

Make like this real-life couple and pick one-off plants or blooms that can be arranged and displayed in show-stopping ways.

#7 Look around your home for inspiration...

You might be surprised by what could work!

#8 Terrariums are oh-so popular right now.

Whether you go for stylish, rustic or something in between, there's a style to suit every celebration!

#9 Make like this science-loving couple...

...And use laboratory equipment to display single stems in. Quirky - and oh-so beautiful! See more of Kim and Ross's wedding day here.

#10 If all else fails: pineapple.

Stuffed with flowers, the fruit is perfect for adding a tropical twist to even the most traditional of celebrations.

#11 In keeping with that fruity theme - why not provide centrepieces that guests can actually eat?

If you want to save idea #3 (see above) for your evening reception, consider platters of your favourite fruits instead. Hello, five-a-day...

#12 Finally: balloons!

If your tables are small, avoid congesting them with over-the-top surface displays. Balloons are a great way to grab attention - and your younger guests will love them!
