Flowers that don't go together and unusual tablecentres - your floral questions, answered!

Flowers that don't go together and unusual tablecentres - your floral questions, answered!

Written by Katie Byrne

Interflora's Karen Barnes answers your burning floral questions...

The question: I don't want a conventional tablecentre arrangement. What's new and unusual this season?

The answer: Depending on the theme of your wedding, your florist will definitely be able to suggest something a little out of the ordinary for your tables. It could be the containers that are different, the shape and style of the arrangements or the flowers themselves!

Succulents, herbs and interesting foliages are a popular way of creating something different. At the other end of the scale, rainbow roses, lilies and germinis are becoming increasingly desirable in the UK and would definitely make a bright and very bold statement.

The question: Are there any flowers that don't work together? Should I avoid putting any specific types together?

The answer: Colour and size are the two most important things to consider when thinking about putting flowers together. For instance, tall gladioli are unlikely to work well with delicate lily of the valley. The best thing is to go to your florist with your ideas and they will be able to advise you on the best combinations to give you the look you are hoping for.
