Including what not to use when cleaning it, where NOT to store it and more!
#1 Don't... Clean it with harsh chemicals
This is a big no-no. Whilst we admire your determination to keep your rock sparkling, you can actually damage the stone and/or metal by using harsh or abrasive substances. Say no to bleach and acetone, and instead use soap and warm water (or baking powder and warm water, for extra shine), gently massaging the ring with a soft toothbrush to get rid of ingrained dirt.
#2 Don't... Wear it whilst swimming or in a hot tub
Your fingers can change sizes when in water (just think of how 'wrinkly' your hands become when you have a long bath!), so to avoid the risk of your engagement ring slipping off and being sucked into a filter (*screaming Emoji face*).
#3 Don't... Wear it when you're at the gym
Especially if you're prone to lifting weights: your ring could easily be knocked and scratched by all that iron-pumping...
#4 Don't... Keep it on when you're doing housework
Similarly to reason #1, household chemicals can dull the sparkle of your ring - and if you're putting a lot of effort into cleaning counters, floors, bath tubs and so on, you might damage the band, too. Boo.
#5 Don't... Put it somewhere silly when you're not wearing it
By 'silly' we mean somewhere that at the time feels very smart and secure - but four hours later, is almost impossible to remember. Instead, have an allocated place you keep it at home, and invest in a small box you can store it in when you're out and about.
#6 Don't... Let anyone else try it on
It could get lost, stretched, stuck...
#7 Don't slather it in handcream
Whilst, yes, it will keep your hands silky soft, your favourite hand lotion will also most likely get caught in the grooves of your engagement ring. Yuck.
