Linda and Tyler picked a bright-and-beautiful theme for their big day
"Tyler and I knew we didn’t want a traditional indoor wedding, so instead we planned an outdoor bohemian celebration with a tropical vibe," says Linda. "I loved that our venue used to be a botanical garden, and it was amazing how secluded it was – it was our own little piece of paradise in the hills."
Our wedding was held out of town, so this meant everyone was able to take a mini holiday in celebration of our marriage. It was like a big party with both families officially coming together. We wanted everyone to fall in love with the tropical beauty, as we did when we first visited the venue.
My dress was by Jasmine Bridal, but I had my seamstress make it my own. She incorporated a sweetheart, strapless neckline and a lower back with slight ruching. It made the dress different and unique to me.
Tyler wore a light grey, slimfit suit by Alfani Redline of Macy’s with a light yellow Calvin Klein shirt, a teal floral tie by Me and Matilda on Etsy.com and camel brown shoes by Cole Haan.
We found the bridesmaids’ teal dresses online. Their gifts from me were gold, lotus pendant necklaces by Theresa Rose Designs, which they wore on the day.
My bouquet comprised peonies, dahlias, craspedia, ‘Pincushion’ proteas, freesias and spray roses. I chose a mix of my favourite flowers to with my colour theme, as well as the tropical atmosphere of the venue. Tyler's buttonhole was made of white freesias, spray roses and craspedia.
I chose my favourite colours to decorate the day – turquoise, yellow, orange and gold. Our centrepieces were a mixture of shallow, gold bowls filled with ‘Pincushion’ proteas, dahlias, craspedia, peonies and spray roses, and bottles filled with Irish Bells, solidago and white snapdragons. These tables were also decorated with origami lotus flowers, vintage books and gold mini bird cages.
For the placenames, I ripped out the pages of vintage books and wrote out the name of each guest at the top and stamped a teal-coloured lotus flower on each one. I also wanted to give each guest something bright and living to take away, so I bought mini teal-coloured bottles, filled them with yellow spider chrysanthemums and attached a thank-you tag.
My mother decorates cakes for a living, so she created our teal fondant cake. It tasted and looked amazing, and my aunt added the brightly coloured flowers that really made it pop.
My favourite moment...
Undoubtedly, our first-look photoshoot was the best bit of the day for me. Tyler and I were both so emotional and I was excited for him to see me!
