Bridesmaids in red, the sweetest flower girls and endless blooms were just a few of the stand-out details at Tosin and Matthew's beautiful celebration
Tosin Omilaju, a recruitment coordinator, and Matthew Hunter, an auditor, both 26, held their Christian ceremony and reception at Northbrook Park, Surrey.
Floral budget: £400
Matthew and I first met at secondary school, 10 years ago.
Before we got engaged, I was working in New York. Towards the end of my time there, Matthew came to visit and organised a surprise trip to the Cayman Islands. On the last night of our stay, at a restaurant on Seven Mile beach, he proposed.
Our theme was vintage with a bit of rustic. We chose our venue because of the wonderful outdoors feel and nature surrounding the grounds.
The beautiful green gardens have amazing flowers and vines that spill gracefully into the walls of the reception room, which is flooded with sunlight. And if you explored the grounds for long enough, you may have even encountered a peacock!
A family member lovingly made our cake. After a few chats she knew exactly what we wanted and designed a beautiful cake with lemon drizzle, toffee and vanilla-flavoured tiers.
It is so hard to pick a favourite moment of the day! One of my favourite memories is walking down the aisle and seeing Matthew waiting for me. We both burst out laughing when I reached the end – after 10 years of love and friendship, we were finally getting married.
Matthew said one of his favourite moments was running through the tunnel of sparklers at the end of the night. He said he was thinking “Anything is possible with her next to me.” We also both surprised one another with songs in the evening, as a personal touch.
Getting the right flowers was really important to us.
We spent a number of sessions with our decorator and florist to figure out the best blooms for us. In the end, we went for chrysanthemum, roses and gypsophila. They all suited the colour theme of our wedding really well.
The evening party vibe was one of fun, celebration, dancing and good music. Our amazing bridal party opened up the floor straight after our first dance... I have no idea what time we went to bed – we were having so much fun!
My tip for brides-to-be: On the day itself, there is not much more that you can do, so let go and cherish each moment. Also, find a photographer who you really click with – our photographer Michael was incredibly easy to work with. We were so impressed with our photos and couldn’t have asked for a better photographer!
Steal their style!
