David has partnered with Welsh brand Clogau to design a stunning new range of jewellery, which has captured the hearts of brides across the UK. Here, we talk to David about his tips for engagement and wedding ring shopping, as well as his favourite pieces from the new collection.

Brides, prepare for some serious sparkle...

Compose your dream engagement ring

Creating your very own engagement ring is one of the most romantic experiences a couple can share - and the new Compose By Clogau™ service means whatever your style, metal preference or budget, you can design something that is truly unique to you and your love story.

From choosing everything from the ring design, metal type (including Fairtrade gold) and diamond, the Compose By Clogau™ experience lets you compose your own engagement ring that reflects not only your personality and style, but also your relationship.

Your engagement ring is a piece of jewellery that will be worn for the rest of your life, a romantic story to share with friends and family; so choosing something you love is very important! I’ve been dressing women for over 30 years, so I know every bride is unique and has her own style - and an engagement ring should most definitely reflect that. So whether you adore vintage, love all things modern or have a penchant for timeless elegance - there's a style to suit you!

I’m very proud to be Welsh, so knowing each piece of jewellery contains rare Welsh gold is something very special. It’s the most sought after gold in the world, favoured by royal brides – what’s not to adore?!

Wedding rings fit for royalty

Whether you’re looking for an intricate design or a touch of simplicity and sophistication, a wedding ring has for centuries been used to symbolise pure love and devotion.
The wedding ring is the ultimate heirloom piece which is why Clogau’s wedding rings - the epitome of storytelling and heritage - are the perfect choice.

Since 1923, the British Royal Family have chosen Welsh gold wedding rings, and this same Welsh gold can be found in every Clogau wedding ring. The link between Welsh gold and the royal family has stood the test of time, being used for the wedding rings of The Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, and as recently as 2011 with the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. This really does make their wedding rings extra-special, adding a certain aura and character.

I particularly like the idea of engraving your names or wedding date for a personal touch – it’s a simply beautiful and meaningful reminder of your lifelong commitment.

Every piece of jewellery tells a story

Your bridal jewellery should express your personality, but it should also complement your wedding dress. The pieces I have designed for Clogau are perfect bridal jewellery as there’s such a great mixture of classic and contemporary designs, combined with Swarovski Gemstones for subtle added sparkle.

The collection ensures there’s a little something for every bride’s taste and style. The heart and star motifs are simple yet romantic, inspired by love and the magnificence of our British royal heritage – something very close to the hearts of both myself and Clogau.

The earrings: perfect for any bride, the ear jackets are diverse to suit any hairstyle and make up. The ear jacket is a separate piece to the stud and butterfly fastening, enabling you to wear the studs on its own for understated elegance, or simply add the ear jackets for a glamourous twist.

The necklaces: it’s so important to choose your necklace according to your dress neckline. I’ve designed two styles of necklaces for this very reason. The sublime lariat necklace is adjustable in length and is perfect for a low neckline – or it would look amazing as a backdrop necklace with a low backed dress.

The bracelets: if your wedding dress boasts a high neckline, then a chic bracelet is the perfect replacement for a necklace. The sublime combination of rose gold, traditional sterling silver, rare Welsh gold and Swarovski Gemstones is truly unique, and one you’ll be proud to wear on your wrist.
