Sophie and Elliott themed their romantic celebration around a loose colour palette of whites, greens and metallic pops
Sophie Dixon, 28, a beauty promotions buyer, and Elliott Fletcher, 27, an account manager for Lego, exchanged vows at St Nicholas Church, Shepperton, followed by a reception at Halliford Mere Lakes, also in Shepperton, Surrey.

Elliott and I went to school and college together, but were always just friends. We went our own ways before getting back in contact a few years later through Facebook. We got engaged one Christmas morning, which has always been my favourite day of the year. We didn’t have a colour scheme as such, just metallics, whites and greens with colour coming from the flowers.
We based it on the décor of our home that we had recently bought together. We wanted our wedding to totally represent us, and what better way than to bring our home to our wedding?
We wanted a venue that gave us complete flexibility to create the day exactly how we wanted it. We hired some land at Halliford Mere Lakes and from the week leading up to the wedding we could do what we wanted.
My dress was by a New York designer called Houghton, but was purchased from Miss Bush in Ripley. Finding a dress was a very long and stressful process! I had almost got to the point of giving up and designing one myself when I discovered Houghton. They had only been stocked in the UK for a couple of weeks when I booked my appointment – I loved it straight away.
As we didn’t really have a colour scheme, I left it pretty much down to my super talented florist, Jo at Daisy Chain.
I told her I wanted something wild, with lots of greenery and shades of pinks, peaches and oranges. We also asked her to decorate the inside of the yurt with foliage wrapping all around the middle, and to create a large floral piece for on top of the bar that came with the yurt hire – amazing! Everything looked incredible. My bouquet was possibly one of my favourite things of the day and just totally completed my dress.
Along with this, she filled terrariums with flowers for our centrepieces and provided extra foliage to drape along our table plan and canvas sign. Flowers were very important to both of us. They can brighten up any room and as we were having no real colours in the rest of our décor we really left it down to our flowers to add that pop.
Our beautiful cakes were made by my bridesmaid, Georgie. We had coffee and walnut, lemon (our favourite!) and a vanilla and raspberry Chantilly sponge.
Apart from the ceremony, one of my favourite moments from the day was when we all first arrived at the lakes. The sun was shining and to see everything set up and in place was just amazing.
Our band, The Super Tenants, were there to sing us in and within 30 minutes everyone was singing and dancing in the sunshine. It truly was a moment we will never forget.
The vibe of our evening was a magical garden party. As it was such a beautiful evening everyone just spilled outside onto grounds next to the lakes. The yurt sides were exposed so even when you were inside dancing you could still see and feel the outdoors.
My tip for brides-to-be: Do it for you. There were times during the planning that we thought we may have taken on too much, but family and friends were always on hand to help and it was so lovely on the day for them to see the bits they’d help to bring together. Hiring a videographer was by far our greatest decision. Elliott wasn’t convinced at first, but I really believe they should be a top priority.
Steal their style!
