Perfect your big-day make-up with these tips from Sarah-Jane Froom, International Make-up Artist for bareMinerals
We asked bareMinerals, official sponsors of the National Wedding Show, to share their advice for flawless bridal beauty. Here's what they said...
Trial and error
Always make sure you have a trial with your chosen make up artist. It’s good to go with someone through word of mouth. I always advise keeping any tears from magazines for looks you would be comfortable with on the day.
Too much is... Too much
Always remember your groom wants you to look like you but at your very best on the day. Don’t give him a fright with the make up as he may not recognise his lovely bride. Go for a soft, pretty and natural look for day, slightly more dramatic for evening.
Develop a routine
Make sure you start using a really good skin care routine on the lead up to your big day. I would recommend bare Minerals Purifying Facial Cleanser, Night Serum, Renew and Hydrate Eye Cream, Multi Wrinkle Repair and Purely Nourishing Cream am and pm, Also add Night Treatment at the pm, This will make sure your skin is glowing and gorgeous on your big day. Twice a week use bare Minerals Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser, It’s important to exfoliate at least 1-2 times per week to get rid of dead skin cells that can make the skin look dull, dry and life less.
Laying the right foundations
Always make sure you have the correct shade of foundation. I would recommend going to one of the bare Minerals counters and having a professional shade match to ensure your foundation matches your skin tone. Remember if you are going to faux tan before the wedding you may also want a darker shade of foundation for the big day and your honey moon.
After foundation application buff over with bare Minerals Mineral Veil, this will keep your skin looking flawless and airbrushed all day long.
Prime Time is a must on the wedding day. Bare Minerals Original Prime Time foundation primer will keep your minerals looking even more flawless for longer. Whilst at the same time hiding the appearance of open pores and fine lines, soaking up excess oil and smoothing out any dry or rough patches on the skin.
Keep it natural
For a natural look try to go for a taupe matte shade of eye colour on the eyes – the best shade for anyone is the natural colour of their hair. So look at your roots or natural hair colour and try and get a shade closest to this. This is the tone that suits your skin and will make your eyes pop. Go for a Matte Highlighter under the brow such as bare Minerals ‘Soul’ eye Colour. Also an eyelid primer is a must on a wedding day.
Make sure you go for a Waterproof Mascara, Weddings are a big day and can be very emotional, you don’t want your make up running if your emotions get the better of you. Make sure bridesmaids and mothers of the brides are also in Waterproof Mascara.
If you are wearing a veil over your face then opt for a lipstick and not a lip gloss, otherwise veil can stick to the gloss and smear it. You can always top up with a gloss in the evening or when the veil comes off.
You want to look like you but on a really good day - so less is more!
